Myrrh Is The Cure!

The Oils Used In The Bible To Wash The Feet Of Jesus Was Thought To Be A Mix Of Myrrh And Spikenard.

Myrrh

I would like to share with you the stories that I have found about Myrrh and Spikenard.

We all know the biblical story of the “woman from the city”, “who lived a sinful life”, and washed the feet of Jesus, drying it with her hair.

Myrrh was used in most perfumes/ointments as a mix to be added with other perfume/essential oils making it last longer.  It acts as a preservative.

Its health benefits include:

  • antiseptic
  • respiratory ailments
  • digestive problems
  • hay fever
  • antifungal
  • stimulant
  • mouth and gum disease
  • anti-inflammatory
  • anti – spasmodic
  • immune system health
  • and more.

It was also used back then for embalming purposes.  Myrrh has been used for over five thousand years, and was mentioned 156 times in the bible.

Spikenard was used:

  • as a medicine
  • enhances ones mood
  • anxiety and stress reducer
  • calming
  • sedative
  • antibacterial
  • deodorant
  • anti-fungal
  • anti-inflammatory
  • laxative
  • migraines

These oils were very expensive back then.  The amount of oils brought in the alabaster box by the woman, was about 1 pound.  This was equal to about an average mans yearly wages back then.

The bible said that the apostles, especially Judas, were upset at this waste of money. They thought that the money could have been used to give to the poor, and Jesus said to them:

“Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”

We do not know who the woman is, but some believe it to be Mary Magdalene.

It is a great thing to know that we still have these wonderful healing oils for our use, without having to pay a full years wages for them.

A Singing Bowl Helps To Heal The Soul!

Shamanistic Sound Therapy For Your Health

In this article I would like to tell you my ideas about the healing properties of the singing bowls.

Singing bowls originated in the Himalaya’s, and originally performed by the Tibetan Monks and Yogis.  They are a type of bell.  When the rim is struck, it makes a ringing sound and produces vibrations that create frequencies of the harmonic nature.

They are used for meditation, relaxation, and healing.  It is a holistic and Shamanistic technique for sound therapy.  In Shamanism, sound is a way to enter into different realities and worlds.

To use the bowls for healing, you will need to close your eyes and meditate.  Put your full concentration to the sound, length of the sound, volume and intensity, everything about the sound and it’s feeling.  Put everything else out of your thoughts.  Then concentrate on the silence after the sound, “The sound of silence”.

Holding the singing bowl next to your head and around your face, with every strike of the singing bowl hammer you will feel the vibrating  and mind cleansing sounds.  This therapeutic technique creates mental and physical harmony and balance.  There are many different frequencies and ways to use the bowls for meditating and healing.

The singing bowls create sounds of energy that help to restore the body parts that are out of harmonic sink.  They help in the healing of both mental and physical disease and helps to restore the mind, body, and soul.

The Natural Way To Keep Mosquitos At Bay!

IMG_5068The Citronella Geranium (Mosquito Plant) Is A Hybridized Plant The Comes From The Chinese Citronella Grass And African Geranium.

I would like to share with you my ideas about the Citronella plant.

It carries the fragrance of Citronella and the mosquitos do not like the scent of it.  With the threat of contracting the West Nile Virus it is more important than ever to protect ourselves from the bite of a mosquito.

The plant is a perennial in warmer climates and can be planted outside around your house.  It is great in pots on your patio or deck to  help keep those pesky bugs away.  If you live in colder climates that get frost in the winter, you will need to put them in pots if they are in the ground, and take them in for the winter months.

If you are going to be out and about you can pull off a leaf and rub it on your arms and legs.  This is a great natural way to keep the mosquitos at bay.

Just a little note:  Some people swear by it and others say that, for them it is not effective. You will have to decide for yourself!

Other plants that are great to plant around the house for detering mosquitos are:  Catnip, Ageratum, Marigolds, Horsemint and Citronella Grass.

Another good way to keep mosquitos away from you while your outside, is rubbing some Citronella, Cedarwood or Myrrh essential oils on your arms and legs as another natural repellant.

Protect Your Brush Against The Flush!

IMG_5100How To Keep Toilet Bacteria From Getting Into Your Mouth!

Sharing and caring with my story about toilet bacteria.

When you flush the toilet with the lid open, it can spray up to 10 inches in the air, getting spray on and around the area of the toilet itself.  If you have a small bathroom, and your toilet is near your sink, you may be getting harmful vomit and diarrhea causing bacteria all over your toothbrush.

The best way to prevent this, is to put the lid down when you flush.  Your mouth itself is full of millions of bacteria germs that go from your mouth to your toothbrush and back again.

A great sanitation method for your toothbrush is to store it in a cup of diluted hydrogen peroxide.  It will kill any bacteria that may be on the brush after washing it, and also keep it from getting any of the bacteria from the toilet flush.  You will want to change this out every couple of days or so.

Another way to keep your toothbrush fresh is to change it out on a regular basis.

I Love Thieves!

RosemaryYou Will Too After Reading This Article!

Thieves is actually the name of a blend of essential oils.  It was named so due to its history.  Here is some information about the stories that I have heard about Thieves.

The Dark Ages was the time of the black plague.  The plague killed millions of people during this time.  No one wanted to go near the dead to remove the bodies for fear of catching it themselves.  A band of thieves were caught robbing the dead bodies of jewelry and other personal effects.  When they were caught and the king had them arrested, he demanded to know why they did not get sick and catch the plague from touching the plague victims or they would be put to death.  He found out that they were perfumers and spice traders.  They knew about the protection properties against illness that were in the essential oils.

The essential oils that they used are very high in anti-bacterial properties.

The essential oils that they rubbed all over their bodies were:

  • Clove
  • Cinnamon
  • Lemon
  • Eucalyptus
  • Rosemary

This amazing blend of essential oils literally repelled the plague.

Thieves killed 99.96% of airborne bacteria in recent scientific testing.

Today you can also use these essential oils to help prevent getting sick, or it can be used to help heal your body faster if you are already sick.  The mixture can be used straight and rubbed on the bottom of your feet.  If you have sensitive skin they can be mixed with a base oil such as grape seed oil, olive oil, almond oil etc.

Cherries Are Definately Not The Pits!

cherriesThere’s A Good Reason To Eat Cherries In Season!

There are several good reasons actually.  Here are my ideas about the nutritional value of cherries.

Cherries are one of the worlds oldest fruits, dating back to around 300 BC.  The word cherry means for the birds.  It was most likely named this because the birds love it.  It was the French that brought the pits from Normandy in the 1600’s, to the United States.

The cherry blossoms on the trees before they turn into cherries produce a wonderful scent and is great for aroma therapy.  The darker the cherry the higher the antioxidant and vitamin levels.

Cherries are great for those watching their weight.  There is less than 100 calories and 1/2 a gram of fat per serving.

The health benefits of cherries are enormous!

They are said to have the following benefits to your health:

  • Very Powerful Antioxidants
  • Contain Cancer Prevention Sources
  • Reduces Inflammation
  • Helps Reduce The Risk Of Gout
  • Supports Sleep (It Contains Melatonin)
  • Helps Relieve The Pain Of Osteoarthritis
  • Helps To Reduce Belly Fat
  • Protects Against Diabetes
  • Helps In reducing Post Exercise Muscle Pain
  • Lowers Your Risks Of Having A Stroke
  • Helps Against Contracting Alzheimer’s
  • Slows Down The Skin Aging Process
  • Great For Your Heart (High Potassium)
  • Helps In Preventing Colon Cancer
  • Helps With Eye Care
  • Improves Digestion
  • Gives You A Stronger Immune System
  • Helps Relieve Infections
  • Relieves Constipation (Contains Fiber)
  • Aids The Digestions (Contains Acid)
  • Provides Added Energy (Healthy Fructose)
  • Helps With Bad Breath
  • Aids With depression

Needless to say it is a great idea to eat cherries while they are in season, which is right now!  If they are out of season you can purchase cherry juice, cherry extract, and canned cherries at the grocery store.  You may also want to look into getting them in concentrated tablets or tincture form, which can be found in most health food stores.

I would like to end my article on cherries by giving you a little correction to what we learned in school.  George Washington was supposed to be famous for cutting down a cherry tree.  George Washington did not cut down a cherry tree when he was a boy.  The story actually is that six-year-old, George took his axe and chops at the bark of a cherry tree (not chopping it down).  This is from the book Life and Memorable Actions of George Washington.
